Adams is born in Italy while her father served as a soldier in the U.S. military and she was raised living in Castle Rock Colorado as one of seven children. The early 1990s were when Adams began performing and dancing professionally at Boulder's Dinner Theatre as well as the Country Dinner Playhouse. After that, she relocated to Minnesota where she was scouted for Drop Dead Gorgeous, a mock documentary film that explored beauty contests. Her screen debut was a huge success, in which she played an obnoxious but friendly contestant, Janet relocated to Los Angeles where she began a professional acting career. She starred in a number of popular films during the following decade, such as Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (from the year 1960) as well as Living It Up (1954) with Martin Lewis.
